Pandemic Preparation - For More Than Just The Swine Flu!

Pandemic Preparation is necessary for more than the Swine
Flu Pandemic..

First and foremost, it is important to take these pandemic preparation steps EVERY DAY to protect your health:

These are steps we should all have learned as kids!

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.

  • Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.

  • Avoid close contact with sick people outside your family members, especially if you have reason to believe they may be a target for the H1N1 virus.

  • Stay home if you are sick for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.

Outside of these common precautions, you may want to consider emergency
    preparedness
    , such as stockpiling
    some food
    , and having emergency
    kits
on hand, just in case there would be a city lock-down of a couple days.
